Parties canvassing sans candidate in Siraha

SIRAHA, APRIL 18Though local polls slated for May 13 are less than a month away, political parties have failed to finalise their candidates for various posts in Siraha. Big parties struggling to finalise their candidates in Bara 'More CPN-UML cadres defecting to CPN (US)' Nepali Congress leaders and cadres are campaigning doorto-door soliciting votes without candidates.

CPN-UML has expedited formation of local level committees in every tole and community. Nepali Congress, Lahan, has announced that it will not forge any electoral alliance with any party.

NC Lahan Municipal Committee has recommended Mahes Prasad Chaudhary, Santosh Kumar Chaudhary and Kranti Devi Prasaila for the post of Lahan's mayor, while Punam Chaudhary, Sital Chaudhary and Sanjay Kumar Yadav have been recommended for the post of deputy mayor.Talk of forging electoral alliance between the CPN-Maoist Centre and Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal is in the air.

But, they are yet to finalise the agreement on fielding common candidates in the various local levels.

CPN-UML, Nepali Congress and Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal have strong presence in Lahan.
